Common questions about Strata and how it works.

What databases does Strata support?

Strata currently supports Microsoft SQL Server — both on-premise and Azure SQL. Support for additional databases is on our roadmap. When you connect a database, Strata automatically discovers your schema, including tables, columns, foreign keys, and data types.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your queries, results, and database content are never used to train any AI models. Strata uses enterprise API agreements with OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI that explicitly prohibit training on customer data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How does authentication work?

Strata uses Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) Single Sign-On. There's no separate account to create — your existing Microsoft credentials handle everything. MFA and conditional access policies from your organization are inherited automatically.

Can Strata modify my database?

By default, Strata connects with read-only permissions and only executes SELECT queries. Write access (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) must be explicitly granted by you or your DBA in the connection settings. All queries are logged and auditable.

Which AI models are available?

Strata offers six frontier models: GPT-5.4 and GPT-5.4 Mini (OpenAI), Claude Opus 4.6 and Claude Sonnet 4.6 (Anthropic), and Grok 4 and Grok 4 Fast (xAI). You can switch between models mid-conversation — context carries over seamlessly.

What export formats does Strata support?

Strata exports to Excel (.xlsx), PDF, CSV, JSON, and interactive HTML dashboards. Excel exports include styled headers, proper data types, and auto-filters. PDF exports include charts, tables, and a formatted cover page.

How do Microsoft integrations work?

Strata integrates with OneDrive (save/read files), Outlook (send emails with attachments), and Microsoft Teams (Strata bot in channels). Each integration uses OAuth 2.0 and only accesses data necessary for your specific request. You can connect or disconnect any integration at any time.
